![]() Storywise I can't say I have a clear favorite, I can see the pacing for P5 getting a bit too slow but I was honestly so enamored with the game I wanted it lasting as long as possible so I'll give the unbiased nod to P4G's story due to better pacing. Character wise I think both games characters are well-written enough but they have different types of characters so I think it is pretty preferential, besides the obvious advantage of P5 not having Teddie (we agree that human Teddie is a mistake right?) though they do try to make Morganna hit that same spot. Also P5 going back to SMT demons as the enemies and personas instead of the enemy-only shadows is a big plus. Gameplay wise I think the handcrafted dungeons are better than the RNG floors where I stare at my map. I love 99% of the songs on P5 soundtrack, I like a fair bit of the songs in P4G but it really isn't even close for my personal music taste, P5 songs are in my family-friendly playlist when I visit my parents lol. As for the reasons why I like P5 more than P4G, it is the total package for me. That turned out to be a great decision because I like P4G, certainly no All-timer for me but a very fun experience. Following that I played P4G since that came out on PC. ![]() For starters I played P5 as my first Persona, I love that game, I think it's godlike, in my top 3 single player games easy with like The Witcher 3. Please don't take this personally anyone, civil discourse, and I'm talking specifically about FES as that is what I have played. Hopping on this corpse of a thread because I really need people to discuss this with :-). Have you played it yet? I’m wondering what you think of it if so. But Persona 4 still has an extreme charm to it that’s unmatched by any other game I’ve played. I’m not going to lie to you, when I go back to play Persona 3 it’s pretty hard to sit through. Imagine Persona 5, but the social links have a weight equal to the story, a lot of slice of life moments that give you a ton of space to breathe in the world and it’s characters, and party members that will genuinely feel like your friends by the time it’s done. I worry that playing P5 first might limit peoples experience with P4, which makes me sad. Did you know that Persona 5’s delays cut a bunch of content? This makes me sad, because the game is so close to hitting the same spot for me and I wonder how amazing it would be if they put in everything they had planned (that even Royal couldn’t add in). Every strong point of Persona 5 I felt was done already in Persona 4 but better, because they perfected their formula in P4 and it was Altus’ true vision. ![]() I was let down because the story is essentially a retelling of Persona 4, but in a way that’s remixed JUST enough so it doesn’t seem like a carbon copy. I’m a Persona fan since 1, and my expectations for Persona 5 were high. If you haven’t played it, I STRONGLY recommend you jump on Persona 4 golden. If the game does get better, which I'm sure it does, tell me so I dont waste all this time for characters I dont really like.Įdit: I do actually like persona 3 fes. But either I'm terrible or the ai is bad because I lose constantly. Maybe yukari, but that's as far as I'd go. But it just falls short with developing at least one likeable and memorable character right off the bat. ![]() The actual story isnt terrible, but theres not much going on rn. The cast is not even remotely as enjoyable as some of the first people you meet in persona 5 (sojiro, ryuji, etc). I kinda like the kid who has a crush on a teacher, but that's really it. I know it will get better, but honestly all the characters right now are soooooo boring. The two main problems I have are the combat, and the w r i t i n g. But man oh man is this a huge step down from persona 5. Granted, I've put about 3 hours into it because I keep fucking dying in tartarus to basic enemies because my party is essentially just rocks. And its been tough to enjoy as much as the other persona games.
